Summary
The Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro offers seamless iOS integration and versatile tracking features, making it ideal for iPhone users engaged in video calls and content creation. While its design is sturdy and functional, the weight and price point may prove drawbacks for some users on the fence, but those with the need for video tracking should be all in.

Pros

  • Seamless integration with iOS devices
  • 360-degree rotation and 90-degree auto-tilt
  • Built-in rechargeable battery
  • 15W MagSafe wireless charging
  • Does not require an app to work with various video conferencing and social media apps
  • Tripod mount compatible

Cons

  • Heavy, so portability must be intentional (but hey, it includes a motor and a battery, and it’s designed as a stand)
  • May seem expensive as an optional piece of tech to some, though essential for others

Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro with DockKit

We don’t give out a lot of five star reviews, but the Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro earned its stars with outstanding design, solid value, honed in features, all shipped in a sustainable box. This team understood a mission and delivered on it with precision. The MagSafe compatible stand uses NFC to pair to a phone, does not require an app for control, and it even charges a phone when plugged into the included power supply. But worry not, the Auto-Tracking Stand Pro also includes its own battery that lasts for five hours.

I also like that this is a MagSafe phone tool, and exclusively so. Belkin did not try to cram in a watch or earbud charger, and they never should. While this device will charge a phone, that is not its primary mission, one of motion and tracking at which it excels.

The only other device like this we have reviewed thus far is the Pivo, which had multiple apps, required attaching the phone to the devivce’s built-in clamp While lighter, the user experience is nowhere near that of the automatic usefullness of the Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro with DockKit.

What we like

Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro with DockKit hero

The Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro offers seamless integration with iOS devices, utilizing Apple’s DockKit framework for effortless pairing via NFC. This eliminates the need for additional apps, allowing users to start using the stand immediately.  Pair it with a tap. Open an app that uses the camera, like FaceTime, and let the tracking begin.

Its 360-degree face, body & movement tracking combines with 90-degree auto-tilt capabilities to ensure that the iPhone’s camera can follow a user’s movements smoothly, making it ideal for video calls, content creation, and live streaming. The motorized movements are quiet, ensuring minimal disruption during use.

The built-in rechargeable battery provides up to five hours of operation on a full charge, offering flexibility for use in various locations without relying on a power outlet. When plugged in, the stand delivers 15W MagSafe wireless charging, ensuring that the iPhone remains powered during extended sessions.

Compatibility with a wide range of video conferencing and social media apps, including FaceTime, Zoom, TikTok, and Instagram, enhances its versatility. Users can easily switch between the front and rear cameras, and the stand can be mounted on a standard tripod using the ¼-inch thread at the base.

Belkin supports the product with a 2-year warranty.

What could be improved

Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro with DockKit exploded view

I’ll put this in the cons section, but to me, its just a reality. The 4.33in/110mm x 4.45in/113mm x 8.54in/217mm stand weighs in at 2.2 oz (950 sGrams). It would be nice to stick in a back pocket, but, the motor and battery need some space and they weigh what they weigh. While this may be a con for those seeking a more portable solution, it should not bother those creating or conferencing at home or in an office.

The $149.99 price might put off some, but this is a five star product that does exactly what it promises, and for those with video tracking needs, it will prove as indespensible and as purchase-worthy, as an external microphone or lighting.

So, while the device could be lighter, it appears as minimalist as Belkin could probably do at this point. And as for price, not cheap, but again, for those who need it or really want it, the $149.99 list will not be a deterrent (and BTW, it does goes on sale at sub-$100).

Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro with DockKit: The bottom line

The Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro with DockKit is a robust accessory for iPhone users seeking enhanced functionality for video calls and content creation. Its seamless iOS integration, versatile tracking features, and MagSafe charging make it a valuable tool for those who frequently engage in such activities. Those who need it will buy it, and those who just want it to be cool, they will probably want it too.
