Benfei Accessories Review

I donโ€™t usually write bulk reviews, but I have been evaluating several BENFEI accessories. I donโ€™t think individual reviews will do readers or Benfei any service. I found all of the various USB-C and USB-A hubs and port extenders well-made with good connections and a solid, weighty feel. While at discount prices, they do not represent discount engineering.

I appreciate the nice cloth bags for the USB-C hubs, the mostly nylon cables and USB-A/C adapters where appropriate. We can only speak to the quality of the products we reviewed, which are detailed below. We can not speak to the quality of any other Benfei accessories.

Good statinability with plastic limited to a sticker on the box. Internal bags are either recyclable or cloth.

My thanks to Benfei for allowing me to explore their products.

Benfei Accessories Review

Memory Card Reader, 4in1 USB 3.0 and USB-C to SD Micro SD MS CF Card Reader

Supports memory stick, microSD, SDXC, CompactFlash, UHS-1, and SD Card. ($9.99 list).

Pros: supports most card type. Compact and light.

Cons: A nylon cable would help it keep up with other products in the Benfei portfolio.

Buy on Amazon

USB C Docking Station, 8-in-1 USB C Hub with Triple Display Dual HDMI, VGA

Adds ports, including legacy with VGA. ($25.99 list).

Pros: Beautifully made, good port selection and nylon cable. And it’s teal!

Cons: I get the VGA port, but really, Iโ€™d rather have Ethernet. I havenโ€™t seen VGA in years.

BENFEI 7-in-1 USB C Hub with HDMI(4K@60Hz), 2 USB-A, 1 USB-C Data, 100W Charge, SD/TF Card Reader, Silicone Tangle-Free Cable

Appreciate the USB-C 5Gbps port which is often not a feature of mobile USB-C hubs. ($19.99 list).

Pros: Beautifully made, good port selection and nylon cable. And it’s pink!

Cons: None.

Magnetic Wireless Charger 15w Compatile with MagSafe Charger

0.23-inch-thick metal case paired with a 4.9-inch nylon charging cable offers good performance with longer spanlife. ($9.99 list).

Pros: Inexpensive with fast charging and MagSafe.

Cons: Not a nylon cable. Would like to see a better way for it to stay put on a desk (like a silicon ring on the bottom) and a detachable cable.

Buy on Amazon

BENFEI 4K@60Hz DisplayPort to HDMI Cable, 6 feet, Aluminum Shell, Nylon Braided

Unconditional 18-month Warranty. ($9.99 list).

Pro: Well-made with nylon wrap on the cable.

Cons: None

BENFEI USB 3.0 Hub, 4 Ports USB A

Cute and functional. I am a big fan of as much USB-C as I get get, but sometimes, you just need more USB-A, and this hub brings 4 USB-A ports to a single USB-C port. Tiny, and easy to carry. (And itโ€™s only $6,99).

Pros: Great price and priceless feature when in the old “everybody needs USB-A but all anybody has is USB-C predicament.”

Cons: Would like it even more with a nylon wrapped cable.

Benfei Accessories: The bottom line

Benfei delivers solid value and build quality across its hub and cable lines. However, if your job depends on flawless 4K video delivery or reliable file transfers, test thoroughly to ensure these budget or any other low-priced accessories meet the demands of the work.
