The Pawsync Smart Pet Feeder’s integrated smart scale measures portions by weight, supporting customized meal plans tailored to a pet’s dietary needs. The accompanying app facilitates the creation of feeding schedules, offers real-time notifications, and provides weekly consumption reports.

Priced at $99.99, this automated feeder is a cost-effective alternative to higher-priced models. The innovative “smart” jam fix technology addresses potential blockages by reversing and rotating mechanisms to maintain consistent food flow. Additionally, the feeder’s battery backup, powered by three D batteries, ensures up to six days of uninterrupted feeding during power outages. And it’s easy to set up and use.

What we like

Pros

  • Integrated smart scale for precise portion control
  • User-friendly app with customizable feeding schedules
  • Reliable performance with consistent meal dispensing
  • Affordable price point compared to competitors
  • Smart jam fix technology to prevent blockages
  • Battery backup ensures operation during power outages

The integrated smart scale within the Pawsync Smart Pet Feeder allows for accurate portion measurement based on weight rather than volume, ensuring pets receive consistent and nutritionally appropriate servings tailored to their specific dietary needs. This helps prevent overfeeding and contributes to maintaining pet health. The feeder handles a variety of dry kibble sizes and types (but does not support wet food of any kind). An FDA-compliant desiccant pack absorbs moisture to help keep kibbles fresh for up to 30 days, while the locking lid keeps kids and critters out of the food supply. The pet-facing parts of the unit clean up with soap and water after easy removal and reinstalation.

Pawsync’s mobile app simplifies meal management, enabling pet owners to set personalized feeding schedules easily. The app’s intuitive design allows users to monitor feeding activity, receive real-time notifications about meals dispensed, and review weekly consumption analytics, providing comprehensive insight into their pet’s eating habits.

Users consistently highlight the Pawsync feeder’s reliable performance, praising its consistent food dispensing without jams or missed meals. Thanks to its precision feeding mechanism, the feeder reduces worries about pets going hungry or missing scheduled meals due to mechanical issues.

Priced competitively at $99.99, the Pawsync Smart Pet Feeder offers considerable value compared to higher-priced competitors like Feeder-Robot or PetLibro. Its affordability, combined with advanced features like weight-based portion control and app management, makes it an appealing option for budget-conscious pet owners who do not want to compromise on quality or functionality.

The feeder’s “smart” jam fix technology proactively addresses clogging issues by automatically reversing and rotating its internal mechanisms to clear blockages. This clever feature enhances reliability and reduces maintenance, ensuring pets receive meals without disruption.

Additionally, the feeder’s battery backup capability provides peace of mind by ensuring continuous operation for up to six days in case of power outages. Using three D-size batteries, this feature guarantees pets receive consistent feedings even when electricity is unavailable, adding a valuable layer of reliability.

Pawsync offers a 1-year limited warranty (link here).

What could be improved

Cons

  • Smaller food storage capacity requires frequent refills
  • Limited meal quantity options may not suit all pets
  • App-dependent functionality may not appeal to all users
  • Too many alerts
  • No way to turn off the lights (bright at night)

The Pawsync Smart Pet Feeder has a modest food storage capacity of 3.8 quarts (approximately 15 cups), which requires pet owners to refill the hopper more frequently compared to larger-capacity models. While sufficient for small to medium-sized pets, this limitation could become cumbersome for those with larger animals or multi-pet households that consume greater amounts of food, potentially affecting convenience.

Meal size customization in the Pawsync feeder is somewhat limited, dispensing meals in increments of 0.3 ounces, with a maximum serving size of just 2.8 ounces per meal. This restriction could present issues for pets requiring larger or more customized portions, particularly larger breeds or those on special diets that demand greater flexibility.

The feeder’s functionality is highly app-dependent, which may present a drawback for users who prefer manual control options or those less comfortable relying on smartphone-based technologies. Pet owners without reliable phone access or who prefer traditional physical controls might find this reliance on the app less appealing or inconvenient, particularly in emergency or connectivity-challenged situations.

And while the notification systems could be helpful, such as informing owners about an empty container, it isn’t necessary to track each time a pet eats, at least not for my family’s experience. The all-or-nothing alerts should be replaced by more granularity, allowing owners to select from an array of alert types.

For those placing the Pawsync in their bedroom, as was done with this review unit, be aware that there is no way to control the lights, and they may be distracting at night, even as they help nocturnal felines find their food. A way to control brightness (and on/off) would be ideal.

Pawsync Smart Pet Feeder: The bottom line

The Pawsync Smart Pet Feeder combines precision, reliability, and affordability, making it a compelling choice for pet owners seeking an automated feeding solution. While it has some limitations in capacity and portion flexibility, its user-friendly features and consistent performance offer significant value.
