SanDisk Fortnite Peely Storage: SSD and USB Stick. 2 Cute Storage Options That Dominate with In-Game Tools and Wraps

Summary

The SanDisk Fortnite Peely SSD combines a unique Fortnite-themed design with up to 2TB of storage and durable construction. While it offers added value for fans, its read speeds and lack of certain features may not meet the needs of all users.

SanDisk Fortnite Peely SSD

Fortnite fans will enjoy the cute Peely SSD and its companion flash drive (sold separately), featuring a cute face, a nylon loop, and acceptable performance as an alternative storage option for games and gaming assets.

For those of you not in the know, Peely is an EPIC outfit in Fortnite that was unlocked via the Season 8 Battle Pass, and only for those who reached Tier 47. Peely is part of the Fortnite Banana Bunch Collection. Peely was added in update v8 on February 28th, 2019, according to fornite.fandom.com.

Buying one of the SanDisk storage options may be your best bet for adding this cute banana outfit to your collection.

What we like

Pros

  • Custom Peely design appeals to Fortnite fans.
  • Includes an exclusive in-game pickaxe.
  • Up to 2TB storage capacity.
  • Durable build with up to two-meter drop protection.

The $99.99 SanDisk Fortnite Peely SSD stands out with its custom Peely design, making it a collectible item for Fortnite enthusiasts. It’s cute, it’s yellow, and it’s light, weighing in at only 40.82 grams (about 1.4 ounces). The drive measures 3.81″ x 1.85″ x 0.39″.

Beyond aesthetics, it offers up to 2TB of storage (we tested the 1TB version), accommodating extensive game libraries and media files. The drive can survive a 2-meter drop (and likely more if it’s in a bag or case).

Purchasers also receive an exclusive in-game pickaxe, adding value for active Fortnite players. The SSD’s durable construction ensures it can withstand drops up to two meters, making it suitable for on-the-go use.

The drive comes with a 3-year warranty.

What could be improved

Cons

  • The maximum read speed of 800MB/s is lower than that of some competitors.
  • Lacks hardware-based encryption.
  • USB-C-to-USB-A cable included; no USB-C-to-USB-C cable.

While the SSD delivers read speeds up to 800MB/s, this falls short compared to competitors like the PNY RP60, which boasts read speeds up to 2,000MB/s. Additionally, the absence of hardware-based encryption may be a concern for users prioritizing data security.

The inclusion of only a USB-C-to-USB-A cable, without a USB-C-to-USB-C option, means bring-your-own-cable for devices with USB-C ports. It places the burden on owners to bring a cable with sufficient throughput to maximize drive performance.

I would also like to see SanDisk/Western Digital spend as much time on the sustainability of their packaging as they do on the cuteness of their branded offerings. While the box and tray are recyclable, plastic bags and a glued-on plastic hang tag reduce the packaging’s contribution to the circular economy.

SanDisk Fortnite Peely SSD: The bottom line

The SanDisk Fortnite Peely SSD is a thematic and functional storage solution tailored for Fortnite fans, offering substantial capacity and a unique design. However, its performance and feature set may not fully satisfy users seeking top-tier speeds and advanced security features.

SanDisk Fortnite Peely USB Flash Drive

The SanDisk Fortnite Peely USB Flash Drive combines functional storage with a playful design appealing to Fortnite enthusiasts. Available in capacities of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB, it caters to a range of storage needs.

The drive uses a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, delivering read speeds up to 130 MB/s and enabling fast transfers of game files and media. Its USB-A connector ensures compatibility with a broad range of devices. Physically, the drive measures 2.36″ x 0.79″ x 0.35″ (59.94mm x 20.07mm x 8.89mm), making it compact and portable.

Given the state of the industry, I would love to see this drive come with either both USB-C and A, a USB-C-only version, or an adapter for USB-C. USB-A is starting to look dated and is useless on devices with only USB-C connections (without a hub or other adaptor solution).

Each purchase includes an exclusive in-game wrap, redeemable until November 15, 2028, adding value for active Fortnite players. SanDisk backs this product with a 5-year limited warranty, reflecting confidence in its durability.
