Komutr MagSafe Earbuds

Summary
At $99, the Komutr Earbuds represent good value for customers looking for quality, design, and unique convenience. Audiophiles should probably look elsewhere, and buyers with smaller ears should be prepared to do a little fiddling with the tips and the app to get everything the way they like it. The earbuds include a one-year warranty and a 30-day return period.
Komutr MagSafe Earbuds Review
As the expression goes, 90% of success is showing up. And by that measure, the Komutr MagSafe Earbuds are a great success because they are always likely to be just where they are needed: safely attached to the back of a phone or device via the convenient magnetic charging case that is their signature feature.
While there are some compromises, particularly in fit and overall sound quality, the concept is compelling enough to make these earbuds worth considering for everyday users. At $99, Komutr is not trying to beat Apple, Sony, or Bose at their own game. It is making a more practical argument: earbuds are not especially useful when their case is sitting on a desk at home.
What we like
Pros
- The MagSafe charging case keeps the earbuds attached to the phone
- Compact case adds little bulk and doubles as a kickstand
- Clear, balanced sound works well for everyday listening
- Useful ANC, app controls, Find My support, and long battery life
- Sustainable packaging
The standout feature is unquestionably the MagSafe charging case. It snaps securely onto the back of an iPhone or MagSafe-compatible case, turning the phone into a single grab-and-go package. Instead of wondering whether the earbuds are in a backpack, jacket pocket, or charging on a desk at home, they are physically attached to the device most people are least likely to leave behind. For commuters, travelers, students, or anyone who frequently listens to podcasts or takes calls throughout the day, this simple design decision eliminates a surprising amount of friction.

The case itself is compact and slim enough that it does not dramatically increase the bulk of the phone. The magnetic attachment feels secure during normal use, and it is easy to remove when it is time to charge or use the earbuds. The hinged cover also works as a phone stand, which gives the case another reason to stay attached. It is one of those ideas that seems obvious in retrospect, and after using it for a while, it is difficult to imagine going back to carrying a separate earbud case.
Sound quality is clear and balanced, and perfectly enjoyable for music, podcasts, phone calls, and streaming video. Vocals are easy to understand, bass is present without overwhelming the mix, and there is enough detail to satisfy most casual listeners. The active noise cancellation is handy for reducing the distractions of ambient noise, even if it does not add much to the audio quality itself.
The rest of the feature set supports the same convenience-first argument. Komutr rates the earbuds for seven hours of playback, with six additional charges from the 600mAh case for about 49 hours in total. The case supports USB-C and wireless charging, and Apple Find My can help locate it when the magnetic strategy fails. The device-management app reports battery status, adjusts EQ and noise cancellation, and allows the touch commands to be reconfigured.
Komutr devotes a section of the product page to “Eco-Friendly Packaging, Greener Future,” stating that its paperless packaging reduces waste and environmental impact. The company also omits a USB-C cable from the box to reduce e-waste, on the reasonable assumption that most buyers already own one.
Those are worthwhile choices, although they address packaging and accessories rather than the full product life cycle. Komutr does not publish broader background about recycled materials, repairability, or a take-back program. Its warranty does, however, allow repaired or reconditioned products to be used as replacements as part of the company’s effort to reduce waste.
What could be improved
Cons
- Included ear tips may be too large for smaller ears
- Touch controls are easy to trigger while adjusting the fit
- Sound is competent rather than impressive
- ANC and fit fall short of premium competitors

Unfortunately, the Komutr MagSafe Earbuds themselves do not quite live up to the elegance of the case. The biggest issue is the included ear tips. Even the smallest supplied silicone tips are relatively large, making it difficult to achieve a secure fit for smaller ear canals. During casual listening while sitting at a desk they are generally fine, but walking briskly, exercising, or even turning the head quickly can cause them to loosen or fall out altogether.
The fit problem is complicated by the touch and tap operations of the buds, where tapping starts or stops an audio program, selects the next or previous track, or operates the phone. I found myself constantly interrupting playback while trying to get the buds to remain secure during a workout at the gym.
Both problems can be solved by replacing the silicone tips with smaller ones from the secondary market—the sizing is relatively standard—and/or changing the configuration of the touch commands using the included device-management app. Komutr also sells memory-foam tips and silicone ear hooks separately for about $5 each. This is not necessarily a deal-breaker, but it is disappointing that a product designed for portability does not provide a better range of fit options out of the box. Since comfort and stability are essential for wireless earbuds, this is one area where Komutr could significantly improve the user experience.
The Komutr buds also fall short of offering the kind of rich, dynamic sound that distinguishes premium wireless earbuds. The audio lacks some depth and separation, and listeners accustomed to higher-end models from companies like Apple, Sony, or Bose will notice the difference. That is not to say the sound is poor, but it is competent rather than impressive. The active noise cancellation similarly reduces steady background distraction without producing the isolation associated with the category leaders.

Komutr MagSafe Earbuds : The bottom line
Ultimately, the Komutr MagSafe Earbuds succeed because they prioritize convenience above everything else. The magnetic phone-mounted charging case is genuinely innovative and makes carrying earbuds easier than ever. If Komutr can improve the included ear tips and refine the audio performance in a future version, it could have a standout product. As it stands, these earbuds offer a clever solution to an everyday problem, backed by solid if unspectacular sound quality.
