Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1

Summary
The Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1 succeeds because it reduces the number of accessories travelers need to carry without compromising charging performance. Combining a 5,000mAh power bank, a 40W USB-C wall charger, a built-in USB-C cable, and pass-through charging into a compact package makes it particularly well suited for commuters, conference attendees, and frequent travelers. While the modest battery capacity and premium price may encourage power users to consider a larger model, the GoBat delivers an elegant, thoughtfully engineered solution for everyday charging. The integrated design, foldable AC plug, and digital battery display make it one of the most practical travel chargers I’ve tested.
Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1 Review

Charging accessories continue to evolve toward consolidation. Rather than carrying a wall charger, a power bank, and at least one USB-C cable, manufacturers increasingly package those functions into a single product. Some succeed by eliminating friction without introducing compromises. Others simply create more complicated gadgets. The Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1 lands firmly in the first category.
I’ve reviewed enough charging products over the last few years to know that convenience alone isn’t enough. Every integrated feature creates an engineering tradeoff involving size, weight, charging speed, thermal performance, or capacity. The GoBat 5K makes those tradeoffs thoughtfully. Rather than attempting to become everything to everyone, it focuses on travelers, commuters, conference attendees, and anyone who values carrying less without sacrificing modern charging performance.
What we like
Pros
- Clever all-in-one design
- Integrated USB-C cable eliminates extra accessories
- Foldable AC plug makes recharging effortless
- Pass-through charging works exceptionally well
- Accurate digital battery percentage display
- Compact enough for everyday carry
- Three-year warranty with lifetime technical support
- Good sustainability efforts
The GoBat’s greatest strength is its integration. Instead of treating the wall charger and power bank as separate products that happen to fit together, Scosche designed them as one device. Fold-out AC prongs recharge the internal battery directly from the wall while simultaneously providing USB-C charging for connected devices. At roughly $49.99, the value proposition isn’t just measured in wattage. It replaces several accessories that would otherwise occupy space in a travel bag. Â
The permanently attached USB-C cable proves more useful than expected. Built-in cables often feel like an afterthought, but here it reflects the product’s purpose. There is no hunting through a backpack for the correct cable before boarding an airplane or walking into a meeting. Pull out the charger, connect the cable, and charging begins immediately.

The foldable AC plug may be my favorite feature. Many power banks eventually require carrying yet another charging cable simply to replenish the battery. The GoBat removes that annoyance. When an outlet becomes available, the charger plugs directly into the wall without any additional setup. That sounds like a small convenience until traveling for several days, when reducing even one cable begins to matter.
Pass-through charging deserves recognition because it changes how the product fits into daily life. Plugged into an outlet overnight, the GoBat replenishes its own battery while charging a connected phone or tablet. Morning departure becomes simpler because only one device needs to be unplugged. Scosche has clearly thought through real-world usage rather than simply listing specifications.
The digital battery display is another feature I wish more manufacturers adopted. Four LED dots communicate almost nothing. An exact percentage immediately answers whether sufficient power remains for another phone recharge or whether it’s time to plug in. That eliminates guesswork, especially during travel.
The compact size complements its intended purpose. Five thousand milliamp-hours will not recharge a laptop several times or keep multiple devices running throughout an extended power outage. It is sized appropriately for topping off a modern smartphone during a long travel day, extending tablet usage, or preventing battery anxiety while navigating airports, conventions, or conferences. It disappears easily into a jacket pocket or sling bag.
Scosche also backs the Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1 with a three-year limited warranty and lifetime technical support, demonstrating more confidence than many accessory manufacturers provide.Â
Scosche has increasingly emphasized sustainability across its charging portfolio, including greater use of post-consumer recycled plastics in newer products such as the PowerFlux series. The company also supports products with relatively long warranty periods and lifetime technical support, both of which encourage longer service lives rather than frequent replacement. The  Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1 arrived in a primarily paper box, but I’d still like to see Scosche move to paper tape and paper retail hangers. The hanger in particular detracts from the otherwise recyclable box, forcing sustainability-minded buyers to tear it apart before recycling.
What could be improved
Although I don’t have a list of explicit Cons for the Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1, I do have a few observations that may influence some buyers’ purchase decisions.
The Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1’s 5,000mAh capacity inevitably limits the use cases. Modern flagship smartphones contain batteries approaching or exceeding that capacity, meaning users should expect approximately one substantial recharge rather than multiple days of reserve power. Travelers carrying several devices may prefer Scosche’s larger 10K version instead. Â
The integrated cable, while wonderfully convenient, cannot be replaced. Although Scosche builds durable accessories, permanently attached cables always raise long-term durability concerns. If the cable eventually fails, the convenience becomes a liability.
The design also favors USB-C ecosystems. Apple users with older Lightning devices will need an adapter or separate cable. That limitation reflects the broader industry’s transition toward USB-C rather than any specific design flaw, but it remains worth noting. The inclusion of a secondary USB-C charging port makes this less of an issue because it can accommodate any USB-C charging cable or be adapted to one.
Finally, the Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1’s premium integration commands a premium price. Less expensive 5,000mAh power banks exist. Few, however, eliminate the wall charger and charging cable while supporting pass-through charging in such a compact package. And then there’s the display. It isn’t just practical; it’s fun. The digital battery indicator looks like something intended for an away-mission belt in a science fiction series (please pick your favorite, it will probably fit right in), earning GoBat coverage not only in our hardware reviews but also on SeriousPop.tech.
Scosche GoBat 5K 3-in-1: The bottom line
Scosche has increasingly emphasized sustainability across its charging portfolio, including greater use of post-consumer recycled plastics in newer products such as the PowerFlux series. The company also supports products with relatively long warranty periods and lifetime technical support, both of which encourage longer service lives rather than frequent replacement. I could not find product-specific sustainability information for the GoBat 5K itself, so I won’t assume it shares the recycled materials found elsewhere in the company’s lineup.
