ZAFRO PTC312 Space Heater Review
The ZAFRO PTC312 Space Heater is a compact, portable heater designed for use in rooms, desks, bedrooms, dorms, or offices where central heat does not adequately address comfort. The low-cost ($34.99 list) PTC312 includes mode logic, digital displays, and a timer. This is not a sophisticated home heating and cooling system, but a clever gadget that raises the bar on small room heaters. It warms spaces quickly, operates with limited distraction, and offers credible safety features. It’s likely to be a well-used comfort appliance on cool days, and a complementary mover of air on warm ones.

What we like
Pros
- Compact PTC ceramic heating
- Five operating modes
- Quiet operation claim of ≤34 dB
- 24-hour timer and digital display
- Safety features include tip-over protection, overheat protection, cool-touch housing, and child lock
- Low sale pricing
The ZAFRO PTC312 is a personal heater. Period. The device’s heating and cooling issues forth from its compact, roughly 10.5-inch circular body. The heat remains fairly local, and the air even more so. It’s designed to disappear into a room.
The five-mode design gives the PTC312 more flexibility than basic high/low/fan heaters. The product includes H2 high-heating, H1 low-heating, ECO, Sleep, and Cool Fan modes. This heater is for indoor use only. Again, close quarters are recommended, but not too close, as it can be toasty. Control on top of the unit manage mode, and include a timer. Sleep mode is particularly useful because it reduces output, lowers noise, and does not require fiddling with controls once set.
It is relatively quiet, at a claimed ≤34 dB, churned by its nine fan blades. Treat the noise claims cautiously because room acoustics, placement, and fan mode affect what owners will hear. Close proximity during work, study, or sleep will create a different auditory experience from setting it up in a workshop.
Touch controls, a 24-hour timer and a digital display set the PTC312 apart from the simplest analog heaters. A timer does not replace responsible use, but it does create a way to better manage the device.
The safety features, including overheat protection, tip-over protection, cool-touch housing, child lock, and ETL listing, are solid for the category. They don’t differentiate the Zafro PTC312, but they do make buying one less risky.
What could be improved
Cons
- The modest fan keeps the heat close and doesn’t do much for air flow.
- Product identification remains fragmented across retailers
- No remote control or app features

While heat tends to travel more widely than a breeze, the small size and modest fan of the ZAFRO PTC312 keep it relevant only to personal space. The fan just doesn’t push air very far when compared to larger tower fans. Again, for heat, a small room will contain it and keep it toasty. On a warm day, the fan will do little more than blow warm air around the owner’s immediate vicinity. The rooms in the photos from ZAFRO do not reflect the ability of this device to service those rooms.
This is an online retail buy. I say that because I could find it on Amazon and Target, and I’m pretty sure the device I was looking at online was the one I was sent for review (the review guide sent me to an Amazon page, so that’s probably this heater). Unfortunately, the Zafro site offers no heaters, so I could only see what Amazon and Target offered regarding Zafro’s market presence for this device. Look, at less than $40, and with good safety specs, it’s hard to go wrong. But people like to shop. Zafro doesn’t make other purchasing options easy to find, if they even exist.
While the ZAFRO PTC312 does include a manually set time, it does not include a remote or any app capabilities. That means owners need to be in the room to control the device. The lack of Wi-Fi connectivity results in waiting to heat the room when arriving at home, or turning the car around to make sure the heater is off when leaving. Not a big deal, as that is how most heaters have always worked, but those with highly automated homes may need to be reminded that manual means no access from an app.
The packaging materials are cardboard, plastic bags and styrofoam. The large styrofoam top was labeled for recycling; the two smaller ones were not. The large plastic overbag warned buyers about suffocation but wasn’t labeled for recycling, while the smaller bag around the cord was. I don’t know where Zafro, as a company, stands on sustainability, but the evidence from a single product suggests inconsistent policies on packaging design. The device itself makes no claims about being a sustainable source by using recycled materials, so my assumption is that it’s all new materials.
ZAFRO PTC312 Space Heater: The bottom line
The ZAFRO PTC312 Space Heater is a compact, inexpensive ceramic heater with a better feature set than the most basic personal heaters. The five modes, 950W/1300W/1500W operating levels, quiet operation, 24-hour timer, digital display, and safety features make it credible for desk, bedroom, dorm, or small-office use. The weaknesses are not about ambition; they are about documentation, retailer inconsistency, and the absence of sustainability information. At less than $25 on Amazon at the time of this review, the PTC312 will prove a practical small-space comfort appliance, provided expectations remain realistic about localized heat and mild breeze.
