Fametek’s Doctor Who Power Bank Review: 2 Powerful Batteries Built to Gift Your Devices More Time

Summary

A must-have for any Doctor Who fan. Supports Qi Wireless charging and wired charging simultaneously. The top of the charger lights up to highlight the TARDIS when wireless charging. A fun collectible that is also practical.

Summary

I keep a Fametek power bank in my bag at all times so when my device needs a charge, I can also fly my geek flag.

When buying at Fametek use code SERIOUS for 20% through Dec. 1.

2 Doctor Who Power Banks to Keep Devices Regenerating

Doctor Who just keeps regenerating, edging on the near-immortal. Your phone or other battery-operated devices can also regenerate when their lifeforce runs low. These Doctor Who Battery Packs from Fametek give devices the jolt they need when they fade.

What we like

Both batteries, like their Star Trek counterparts (see reviews: Star Trek Power Bank and Qi Charger), pack serious batteries beneath their cosplay exteriors.

Of the two, the Qi Wireless Charger is more fun as it lights up brightly to reveal its TARDIS image. A Weeping Angel version is also available. Both versions run $39.99. The Dual Charging Power Bank with TARDIS design runs $24.95.

The Qi Wireless Charger holds 8,000 mAh of charge, while the wired-only version packs in 10,0000 mAh in their Lithium-ion batteries. Both batteries support Apple and Android devices, as well as anything else that needs a boost, including any of Fametek’s Bluetooth speakers.

Well made and fun to use.

What could be improved

I would like to see both batteries adopt USB-C for charging rather than micro-USB—perhaps even a bi-directional USB-C port to would pass power in both directions, reducing complexity and shrinking the internal components.

Doctor Who Power Banks: The Bottom Line

If you love Doctor Who, own a sonic screwdriver or a really long, multi-colored scarf, then these power banks are the batteries for you. They are no more expensive than competing products, but are a whole lot more fun to use and show off!
