Countdown to San Diego Comic-Con 2025: Comic-Con Kit: What’s in My Bag
As an analyst, I’m always exploring the future of work. Yes, even at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). So, I can’t just bring my Starfleet uniform or my S.H.I.E.L.D. garb; I also need to bring a few gadgets to document what I’m learning, and of course, test out some new tech products, and put those I’ve already evaluated through even more rigorous tests.
Here’s my initial list of what I’m bring with me to San Diego. This blog may be updated several times between July 23 and July 27, 2025 as I use something that I realized I left off the list.
Keep an eye on our social channels for live updates and other information coming from SDCC.

Technology Item
Apple iPad Air

Commentary and Links
My iPad Pro’s USB-C port recently stopped working. It now charges via a magic keyboard. It’s too heavy to lug around Comic-Con with a keyboard. I bought a gen 5 iPad Air as my hero device on the floor and in sessions.

PenTips Screen Protector and Apple Pencil Tips

The next generation of PenTips Pen Matte screen protectors have arrived, and I will be using one to protect my iPad Air display and make it more pleasant to take notes during panels. And perhaps I’ll take a few moments between panels to sketch.
Now that PenTips took our advice, all of the tips now come in labeled boxes. Color-enhanced tips include a sticker to differentiate them from their less colorful cousins.
ShiftCam Accessories
Lights, selfie sticks, camera mounts, ACTION! A full suite of tools for capturing all the joys and insights of San Diego Comic-Con. I will be capturing video and images with their lenses, lighting scenes with their LED lights, protecting my phone with their case, and holding my iPhone 166 Pro with their SnapGrip Pro battery pack (shown in the image below).
Lenovo X1 Nano Gen 3
The lightweight travel companion that packs an i7 ready to deliver on the road.
Never know what you need to connect to. I don’t mind the dongle when the computer is so light. Works with the Lenovo X1 Nano and the iPad Air.
Targus CitySmart EVA Pro Backpack
A backpack that’s ready to travel. Includes a luggage strap and checkpoint-friendly storage for laptops. The front pockets protect contents, but the front flaps are thin enough to support pins. Perfect as a Con travel companion.

JBL Tour Pro 3
Ourstanding audio and great microphones. And the the case broadcasts when connected to a device, including a laptop. Perfect for work and play.

Apple AirTag with Iron Man AirTag Holder

Apple AirTag link on Amazon.
Casetify AirTag goes in the checked bag in case it gets misplaced. And it stands watch, like a shield around the world (too much?)
GUNNAR – Baron Premium Gaming and Computer Glasses
I’ll be wearing the new Gunnar Baron perscription glasses (also available without a perscription) the day I channel Iron Man with my Arc Reactor buried in my chest.
A similar pair is available as GUNNAR – Stark Industries Edition Premium Gaming and Computer Glasses on Amazon or buy the latest model directly from Gunnar.

The destination for all the video I’ll shoot on the floor and in panels.
