Coomooy and Monoprice: Head-to-Head Apple 3-in-1 Charger Reviews. Coomooy’s Curvy Sci-Fi Vibe Wins the Day.

Summary

A sleek futuristic design. Perhaps the most elegant and interesting Apple 3-in-1 charger on the market. Does not come with a power supply, but does integrate its own watch charging technology.

Summary

A utilitarian 3-in-1 charger. It comes with a power supply, but not with the Apple Watch charger.

Coomooy and Monoprice Apple 3-in-1 Charger Reviews

So, this is a tough comparison. Monoprice offers a utilitarian MagSafe Compatible 3-in-1 Wireless Charger for $39.99. It includes a power supply, but it doesn’t include the Apple Watch Charger. At $49.50 Coomooy offers one of the most beautifully designed Magnetic 3-in-1 chargers we have seen. It integrates a compatible Apple watch charger into the design. It does not, however, ship with a power supply.

Apple charges $29 for their Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger. But it also comes in the box, so that may justify the lower cost Monoprice stand. On the other hand, taking the Watch charger in and out of a stand for travel can be a pain, which is why I travel with Mophie’s travel charger and keep my Apple Watch Charger in the car. 18W USB chargers are pretty cheap, some as low as $9.99 for two on Amazon.

If you own a compatible 18W power supply, the Coomooy product is a no-brainer. It’s beautiful, integrated, and does its job just as well as any other fast-charging stand.

Coomooy Apple 3-in-1 Charging Stand

The Comooy 3-in-1 Charging Stand looks like it was transported from the future. The white (or available black) one-piece curved stand looks like the charging solution Apple should have made. There isn’t a lot required to make the Coomooy charger charge. Plug in a power supply, (USB-A or C, it doesn’t matter as long as the terminating connection at the charger is USB-C) and insert a USB-C connector into the charger—and, well, that’s it. Sit your phone, headphones, and watch on the charger and let them trick in some wireless power.

My one suggestion to Coomooy would be to offer a $5 or $10 power supply as an option so people don’t need to worry about the wattage or other compatibility issues with their power supply, or one they purchase to support this charging stand. At minimum they need to be very clear about the power supply specifications

Monoprice Magsafe Apple 3-in-1 Charger

As I said above, the Monoprice Magsafe 3-in-1 Charger is a bit utilitarian. It even requires the new owner to seat the phone and watch portion of the stand into the base. The design is just uninspired, and the materials do not feel high-end. The removable MagSafe charging puck for the phone makes for a mobile charging solution, but that isn’t a feature that tips this product into a must-buy category.

Coomooy and Monoprice Magsafe Apple 3-in-1 Chargers: The Bottom Line

If you don’t own a compatible power supply or want an extra one—and want to use the Apple-supplied Apple Watch charger—then the Monoprice Apple 3-in-1 Charger might be for you. If you have the Apple Watch Charger in the center console of your car like I do, ready to top it off during a longish trip, then you will probably want the Coomooy charger.

I have to say, until the Coomoy arrived, my go-to charger was the Satechi 3-in-1 charger. It remains an elegant, well-made, relatively expensive alternative to these 3-in-1 chargers. But the simplicity of the integrated design on the Coomooy Apple 3-in-1 Charger won me over. Let’s just say the charger shares my desk with some Star Trek and Marvel items, and it looks more like a part of those universes than it does ours, which for me, is a winning design aesthetic.

Both these chargers are also far less expensive that Satechi’s charger ($119.99) or mophie’s ($99.95). The only things that justify a $50 price difference are aesthetics, brand reputation, and with that, build quality. If any of those are concerns compared to Coomooy’s relatively unknown brand, then certainly buy the product you trust, and the one that best fits your decor.

Both chargers, BTW, support third-party headphones as well as Apple’s modules with wireless charging.
