Twelve South Curve Flex
Twelve South Curve Flex Review
My Twelve South Curve SE sits behind me, holding all manner of laptops, diminutive and grand, as I evaluate them. The laptops vary in height, from 12 to 13-inch screens to massive 17-inch behemoths mounted above nearly 2-inch think mobile workstations with hot Intel i9 processors chugging through them. I adjust my expectations, tilting my head up or leaning in to look at the displays.
I was obviously not the only one. Twelve South recently updated its Curve line to include the $79.99 Curve Flex. The Curve Flex retains the spirit of the Curve but with the added feature of collapsing and expanding. The Twelve South Curve Flex flattens to the point of portability, folding neatly into the included neoprene travel sleeve. And depending on the MacBook model, it will extend a laptop up to 22 inches, putting the camera at eye view and aligning the computer’s display with a desktop monitor.
I am currently reading Walter Isaacson’s, Leonardo Da Vinci. One section of the book focuses on Leonardo’s paragone, an argument he made in favor of painting being the penultimate art form. Leonardo did not know about photography, of which he would likely be equally horrified and fascinated. His rationale for painting over poetry was that he could, in a few brush strokes, demonstrate beauty. The poet would need many words to convey the same idea, which would never be visceral or immediate.
With Leonardo’s argument in mind, I offer this gallery of images of the Twelve South Curve Flex that tells its story better than my words.
Twelve South Curve Flex: The Bottom Line
The Twelve South Curve Flex offers an elegant response to learning how people use their existing Curve and responding with an engineering solution that retains the beauty of the original while greatly expanding the stand’s functional contribution to productivity and ergonomics.
