InfinityLAB Accessories: High-Quality Power Supplies, Charging Solutions and Cables from the Manufacturer of 70s Sound

InfinityLAB Accessories: High-Quality Power Supplies, Charging Solutions and Cables from the Manufacturer of 70s Sound

InfinityLAB InstantStation Wireless Stand

When I was getting ready to start college, I wanted Infinity speakers as part of my college apartment furnishings. Infinity had started just nine years earlier and had a reputation for outstanding sound. Alas, my audiophile ambitions could not meet the scarce resources of a middle-class kid going to college. I settled for a Pioneer compact stereo system, complete with speakers, from the now-defunct Fedco superstore.

Infinity still exists as an automobile and marine division of Harman, which is owned by Samsung. Over the years, I have come to know Harman most intimately through their JBL brand. Several JBL reviews of speakers and headphones live on Serious Insights.

At the 2023 CES, I was attracted to a small case, as we analysts often are, looking for stories the companies aren’t telling. In this case, the case displayed InfinityLab cables, charging solutions and power supplies. What struck me was the overall quality of the accessories and that the packaging adheres to FSC certification and employs organic soy ink for art and text—wrapping their power supply, for instance, not in a plastic binding but in paper.

And unlike speakers that could cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in the 1970s, the InfinityLab solutions are all reasonably priced.

Each of the review boxes below contains a mini-review of the product along with some key specifications and links to where to buy them on Amazon.

This review covers the following products:

  • InstantStation Wireless Stand
  • InstantGo 10000 Built-in USB-C Cable
  • InstantConnect USB-C to Lightning
  • InstantConnect USB-C to USB-C
  • InstantCharger 20W 1 USB

Summary

The well-designed $69.95 InfinityLab InstantStation Wireless Stand offers Qi charging with the addition of a 30W PD USB-C port, and a USB-A port (15W max), so 3 devices can charge simultaneously. It would benefit from Apple MagSafe compatibility, but it does work for all Qi-compatible devices, regardless of their MagSafe status.

Offers overvoltage protection, over current production, short-circuit protection, over temperature protection, surge protection, and lighting protection—all without the need for a surge suppressing power strip. Allocates power based on the needs of the devices plugged into it.

Comes with its own power supply, which eliminates the guessing associated with stand chargers with USB input that often don’t specify the expected power supply, leading to inconsistent performance.

Charges phones and small laptops. Will get a MacBook Air to 50% in 70 minutes.

Made of 90% recycled material. Weight only .39 lbs.

InfinityLab InstantGo 10000 Built-in USB-C Cable

Summary

The $69.95 InfinityLab InstantGo 10000 battery comes with an integrated USB-C cable that tucks into the 90% recycled plastic body of this 10,000mAh battery.

Will charge devices up to a small laptop. Smart pass-through charging will top off the battery while still powering or charging an attached device.

 At 6 x 3 x 0.6″, it’s just about the size of most phones.

The first unit received would not charge. The replacement works but does not hold a charge as long as many other batteries. While the construction appears to have the same quality as other InfinityLab products, the experience with this battery appears to indicate some electrical anomalies.

Includes a well-designed cable tie for cable management. Supports up to 20W Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 for fast charging.

Like other InfinityLab products, the cable ships in FSC-certified packaging.

The most trusted Lightning cable in my arsenal.

Summary

The diminutive $19.95 InfinityLab InstantCharger 20W 1 USB power supply easily fits into bags or pockets to provide USB-C charging on the go. 90% recycled plastics. 20W output is PD compatible for fast charging.

Offers overvoltage protection, over current production, short-circuit protection, over temperature protection, surge protection, and lightning protection—all without the need for a surge suppressing power strip. Allocates power based on the needs of the devices plugged into it.

Often finds a place in my bag at only 1.40 x 1.40 x 1.10 inches.

Would be even better with folding prongs.
