Summary

The Mophie 3-in-1 Extendable MagSafe Stand, priced at $149.95, offers a sleek and efficient charging solution for iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods with its adjustable height from 7.5 to 16 inches, fast charging capabilities, and compact design. Its tilt-adjustable MagSafe mount and stable base enhance usability, making it ideal for video conferencing and various tasks. However, the large proprietary power supply and lack of swivel for the iPhone charging pad are drawbacks. Despite these, the stand’s elegant design and performance make it a top choice for Apple users seeking a clutter-free, efficient charging station.

Mophie 3-in-1 extendable MagSafe stand

In the crowded market of charging solutions, the Mophie 3-in-1 Extendable MagSafe Stand stands above the competition with thoughtful design and engineering excellence. While it comes with a price tag of $149.95, aligning with other premium MagSafe chargers, its practical height adjustment, fast charging capabilities, and compact design justify the investment for those seeking an efficient and elegant solution to their daily charging needs from a trusted brand.

What we like

Pros

  • Height adjustment from 7.5 to 16 inches
  • Fast charging for iPhone and Apple Watch
  • Tilt-adjustable MagSafe mountCompact design occupies minimal space
  • Steel base and rubber-coated underside enhance stability

The Mophie 3-in-1 extendable MagSafe stand is an exemplar of form meeting function in the realm of charging solutions. In the fast-paced world of technology, where our devices are both indispensable and ubiquitous, Mophie has crafted a product that not only caters to the need for rapid charging but does so with an elegant, space-efficient design.

At its core, the Mophie 3-in-1 extendable MagSafe stand is designed to streamline the charging experience. It accommodates your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods in a single, compact footprint, less than five inches in diameter. The hallmark feature is its height-adjustable iPhone mount, which can be extended from 7.5 inches to 16 inches. This adjustability, coupled with a tilt-adjustable MagSafe mount, positions the stand as an excellent tool for video conferencing and FaceTime calls, and its not bad as a tool to support standing work, like cooking, though I prefer my iPad for reading receipes.

Fast charging is a critical element, and Mophie delivers 15W of output for iPhones and a dedicated fast charger for Apple Watches. A 30-minute charge on an iPhone 15 will take it to over a 30 percent charge, while Apple Watches can achieve upwards of a 60 percent increase.

The stand’s design allows for easy rotation between portrait and landscape modes, making it suitable for recording an influencer video, taking a video call or as a display in Standby mode. The non-adjustable Apple Watch mount is angled for optimal visibility, ensuring it can easily be checked for time or notifications.

Although Mophie’s packaging was primarily cardboard and paper, the company needs to find an alternative to the plastic retail hang tag. I will give them credit for labeling the hang tag for recycling, but many recyclers won’t take the time to find the small symbol on a mixed-material box. I dug mine out before recycling the tag and the box separately.

What could be improved

Cons

  • Large, proprietary power supply
  • iPhone charging pad doesn’t swivel

For a company that makes charging solutions, I am a little surprised by the large, proprietary charging block. The block includes all the issues of large charging blocks, such as, well, its large, it doesn’t fit well in a multi-plug situation like a power strip, and its proprietary, meaning, if it fails or gets misplaced, the charging stand can’t be used. Well, the last one is pretty unlikely, as this is not a solution intended for travel. However, the awkward size did force me to put a short extender to allow it to comfortably fit among my other power supplies.

Ideally, Mophie would use a Gan charger and a USB-C cable that will not only manage the power needs of a stand like this, but can also be used on its own for travel, with no risks to the stand should the power supply be lost—replace it with another charger with the right output profile.

Sorry team Mophie, I know you give one feature, and we want something else. I want the MagSafe pad to swivel side-to-side, not just up and down. I like that my iPhone now sits above the fray of desk clutter. Unfortunately, my phone sits on the edge of my desk, facing parallel to the desk edge. I would like to turn it to me. I can do that by turning the base, but that results in increasing the footprint of the base as it creates unusable space along the angles.

Flat on the coner of my desk is perfect. Just let me turn the phone toward me. From an engineering standpoint, that might require a different type of extruded tube, one without a groove–or, I think, more effectively a top charge mount that allows for at least 45-degrees of spin in either direction. I don’t need the charger to be as flexible as an owl’s head, but a little turn would be appreciated.

Mophie 3-in-1 extendable MagSafe stand: The bottom line

For anyone entrenched in the Apple ecosystem, the Mophie 3-in-1 extendable MagSafe stand offers a cohesive and efficient method to keep devices charged and accessible, blending seamlessly into any environment without the clutter of multiple cables. And it will increasingly be useful to those with Android phones as well. In fact, the Qi charging pad that supports AirPods will also charge a phone or other Qi capable devices, including headphones. The stand’s features and performance position it as a leading choice in the 3-in-1 charging solution market.
