New Zagg Cases, Screen Protectors and Mophie Batteries Ready iPhone 16s for Mobile Life

December 26, 2024 by Daniel W. Rasmus Leave a Comment

The latest iPhone are always a secret until Apple launches them, unless you are a company that makes accessories. Then, you receive some information: dimensions, button placement, and the location of cameras and ports. So, by the time Apple ships its first units, various accessories are ready to complement the new iphones. Here is a sampling of those from Zagg and its Mophie brand of power accessories.

Summary

Zagg and Mophie have launched accessories for the new iPhone 16 and 16 Pro, including protective cases, screen protectors, and power banks. Highlights include the Santa Cruz Snap and Milan Snap Glitter cases with drop protection and MagSafe compatibility, as well as the Mophie juice pack battery case, which offers extended battery life. Zagg screen protectors, like the Glass XTR4, feature graphene strength, blue light filtering, and scratch resistance. The Mophie snap+ juice pack mini offers portable power with a stand. These products prioritize sustainability, with recycled materials and eco-friendly packaging. Accessories are stylish, durable, and designed for on-the-go users.

iPhone 16 and 16 Pro Cases

Santa Cruz Snap Case for iPhone 16 Pro

Zagg Santa Cruz Snap with Kickstand

The Santa Cruz Snap with Kickstand case for the iPhone 16 Pro is a transparent case with pops of color and an integrated kickstand, priced at $54.99. This case provides up to 13 feet (4 meters) of drop protection. The anti-scratch finish helps maintain the caseโ€™s beauty, and the textured edges provide a secure grip. The case is compatible with MagSafe wireless charging. It is strengthened with graphene. The case is made with up to 70% post-consumer recycled materials. It also has a limited lifetime warranty. It weighs in at 0.1 lb. The Santa Cruz Snap case is also available for the iPhone 16 Pro in a different color, at the same price point, and with the same features.

Milan Snap Glitter Case for iPhone 16

The Milan Snap Glitter Case for the iPhone 16 is a stylish and protective option, priced at $49.99. It is compatible with MagSafe wireless charging. It provides up to 13 feet (4 meters) of drop protection. The iridescent finish adds a luminous glow. The case has a slim, lightweight design and a secure grip from textured edges. It is strengthened with graphene, making it very durable. This case is made with up to 84% post-consumer recycled materials. The case also comes with a limited lifetime warranty. It has a weight of 0.1 lb. Particularly attractive when paired with a pink iPhone 16.

iPhone Powerbank Cases

Mophie juice pack for iPhone 16 and 16 Pro

The Mophie juice pack for the iPhone 16 Pro offers power users an alternative case when the need arises. Priced at $99.95, this slim, protective battery case boasts an internal 3,600 mAh battery that can provide up to 50% additional battery life. The LED power indicator conveniently shows the battery level and charge status. The raised case corners and high-impact protection help to keep your phone safe from everyday hazards, offering up to 6 feet of drop protection. It also features priority plus charging, which means power goes to your phone first and then to the juice pack. An integrated passive magnet allows for a strong connection with magnetic accessories. The case has an exposed capture button for the new iPhone camera control button. It has a slim profile. The external plastic case comprises up to 50% post-consumer recycled plastics. It offers up to 44 hours of talk time, up to 44 hours of music playback, and up to 11 hours of video playback. It weighs 0.1 lb. This product comes with a 2-year warranty.

Potential buyers should consider that the case does not charge via MagSafe, though it supports it for display purposes. That means neither the phone nor the battery charger is wireless. The case also requires removable to replace it with a more stylish or lighter case when access to power won’t be an issue. Rather than buying a power bank case, I highly recommend one of Mophies’ MagSafe external batteries that offer more flexibility in charging or style.

Screen Protectors

I like the ZAGG screen protectors. I feel like the well-known brand offers more quality and quality assurance than cut-rate competitors. That said, I often opt not to cover my phone’s case because of annoying bubbles. While both of these Zagg products include clear instructions with alignment tools, I could not successfully apply either without bubbles. I even tried reapplying to remove the one small spec of dust under the iPhone screen protector. The bubble reappeared, as do edge bubbles where the screen sits too close to the case, a situation that the alignment tool was designed to prevent, but it did not.

Once installed, the Zagg products offer outstanding protection when combined with a good case.

Zagg Invisible Glass XTR4 Screen Protector for iPhone 16 Pro

The Glass XTR4 screen protector is a cutting-edge product designed for the iPhone 16 Pro, priced at $59.99. This isn’t just your run-of-the-mill screen protector; it’s an advanced piece of engineering. Fortified with graphene, itโ€™s been tested to be up to 11 times stronger than traditional glass screen protectors. The XTR4 also features Radiance Protection Factor 60 technology, filtering blue light to improve eye comfort and sleep. Its anti-reflective technology enhances screen clarity and color vibrancy, and a nano-infused surface makes it incredibly scratch-resistant. The SiO2-enhanced coating ensures maximum touch sensitivity and a smooth surface. Itโ€™s made with up to 30% post-consumer recycled glass, the tray is made from 100% recycled content, and the packaging is 100% recyclable. The screen protector and its packaging feature the TรœV Rheinland Certified Green Product Mark and FSC Certification. The screen protector also has an anti-microbial treatment. Installation is easy with an anti-dust adhesive and an EZ Apply tray. The product comes with a limited lifetime warranty, which means ZAGG will replace it if worn or damaged for as long as you own your device. It weighs 0.1 lb.

Los Angeles Dodgers Custom Clear Glass Screen Disappearing Logo Protector

The Los Angeles Dodgers Custom Clear Glass screen protector is a unique product for fans, priced at $59.99. The Dodgers screen cover was my choice. Most teams are available. My wife’s iPhone 16 is sporting a Seattle Seahawks logo. The disappearing logo protector is designed for the iPhone 16, 15, 14 and 13 series (excluding mini). The screen protector features a disappearing team logo that’s visible when the screen is off(or when dark, as phones like the 16 Pro don’t turn off) and vanishes when the screen is on. This custom glass is officially licensed by Major League Baseball (MLB) and other sports bodies, including the NBA and NFL. The screen cover offers premium protection against impacts and scratches. It is easy to install with application tabs and an installation tray. The screen protector comes with a limited lifetime warranty (though at the time of writing this review, the website also stated a 90 Day Warranty in the Warranty section. The box, however, states a lifetime of the device warranty, which should be legally more binding than contradictory website content). The cover and tools weigh in at 0.3 lbs. The screen protector is also available in a privacy screen version.

Some styles available on Amazon

I would also love to see Screen Skinz, Inc./Zagg work on a paper retail hangtag and more sustainable alignment tools.

Powerbanks

mophie snap+ juice pack mini with stand

The mophie snap+ juice pack mini with stand is a highly versatile portable charging solution, priced at $69.95. This device is designed for use with AirPods, Google Pixel, iPhones, and other magnetic Qi2-enabled devices. Its key feature is its 5,000mAh internal battery, providing up to 100% extra battery for devices. The integrated kickstand lets owners view their phone while it charges, making it ideal for hands-free use, though it is just as easy to fold up that stand and keep charging while holding the phone. Supports MagSafe-enabled iPhones, offering up to 7.5W for iOS, making it instantly compatible with iPhones 15/14/13/12. The USB-C port is versatile, allowing for up to 12W output and 20W input. The snap+ juice pack mini with stand comes with a two-year warranty. It weighs 0.1 lb. It also includes a quick start guide and a charging cable (USB-C).

Could do without plastic wrap around product and plastic retail hang tag that forced me to deconstruct the box before recycling it.
